Rose Mary’s Obituary Rose Mary Vasquez Carl passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at the age of 58, after an 8-month long battle with leukemia. Rose Mary was born October 19, 1960 in Fort Morgan, Colorado, to Juan and Natalie Vasquez. She was the oldest of four children born to this union, later welcoming Jon, Vincente and Steve.

Natalie married Albert Trujillo and completed their family with two daughters, Yvette and Marie. Rose Mary was raised in Fort Morgan until 1973, when the family moved to Akron. Shortly after, Albert and Natalie opened the Silver Grill and it became a family affair.

Rose Mary was known for her contagious smile, friendliness and loved working with the public. The family owned and operated several family restaurants throughout her youth. Rose Mary was a natural born leader.

On one occasion, Rose Mary led her brothers, Jon and Steve, on a runaway trip to a Fort Morgan park, in a failed attempt to escape their parents. In her youth, Rose Mary was babysitting her younger brothers and asked them to come in. When they failed to do so, she disassembled Steve’s bicycle, leading to a high-speed pursuit with Steve chasing her with a particularly sharp object through a sticker patch.

On another occasion, Rose Mary was supposed to be babysitting Yvette and Marie while their mom went to the store, but instead was in her bedroom reading comics. When their mom returned, Yvette and Marie looked like little ghosts because they had gotten into the flour, also leaving white footprints throughout the home. Rose Mary could also be found leading Jon and Steve, with a 45-record player, in their back yard band, the ‘Vasquez 3’.

In high school, Rose Mary excelled in Home Economics, where she developed her passion for cooking. She loved spending time with her friends and took great pride in her organizational skills. She graduated from Akron High School with the Class of 1979.

Shortly after graduating from high school, Rose Mary met Jerry Carl, while waiting tables at the Crestwood Cafe. She and Jerry eloped to Wyoming to get married, much to the displeasure of ‘Big Al’. After Rose Mary and Jerry married, they joined the carnival and traveled throughout the mid-western states, later settling in Fort Morgan.

After settling in Fort Morgan, Rose Mary continued to wait tables until she began her 30+ year career with Western Sugar. She was always an extremely dedicated, faithful and loyal employee. While employed at Western Sugar, Rose Mary met David Breidenbach and to this union, on June 26, 1998, a son, Austin Tyler was born.

Austin was very active in sports from the age of five throughout high school. Rose Mary never missed an event and was always Austin’s Number 1 fan! Rose Mary and Austin were inseparable, never parting without saying “I love you”, followed by “Always and Forever”.

Austin was always Rose Mary’s pride and joy and they were one another’s rock. Rose Mary was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; brother, Vincente; step-father, Albert Trujillo; and several aunts and uncles. She is survived by her son, Austin Breidenbach; father, Juan Vasquez; mother, Natalie Trujillo; siblings, Jon and Michele Vasquez of Canyon Lake, California, Steve and Christa Vasquez of Akron, Colorado, Yvette Trujillo and Lindsey Reno of Arvada, Colorado, Marie and Bill Garcia of Fort Morgan, Colorado, Camelia and Matthew Marshall of Broomfield, Colorado, Angel and Sylvia Vasquez of Valencia, California, Lionel and Victoria Vasquez of Phoenix, Arizona, Mark and Vicky Pena of Log Lane, Colorado and Carolina and Stan Baker of Milliken, Colorado; nieces and nephews, Whitney (Brandon) Kirk, Brittney (Matthew) Wade, Chase Vasquez, Nicole (Jake) Bray, Alicia (Dirk) Barry, Alec Vasquez, Ally Richardson, Caden Johnson, Desirae (Joe) Contreras, Daniela Trujillo, Eric Garcia, Zach Garcia, Antonio and Vonpierce Marshall, Madison Vasquez, Louis, Alexandria and Vance Vasquez and Antonio Pena; great-nieces and nephews, Zeke and Zoie Kirk, Maverick and Kennedy Wade, Liam Bray, Harper and Haven Barry, Brogan and Berklee Richardson, Isaiah, Dominic and Joe Jr. Contreras, Nevaeh Rodriguez, Ja’sian Martinez, Trae Romero and Kaleena Osburn; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 26th, at 11 a.m., at the Fort Morgan Cemetery. Rose Mary requested that everyone in attendance wear bright colors. The Celebration of Life will continue with a luncheon at the Brush Golf Course banquet room and everyone is invited.
