Obituary for Lucille Cox Lucille (Engle) Cox, age 83, arrived at her heavenly home on November 10, 2018. She passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at Hospice of Butler and Warren counties in Franklin, Ohio. Lucille was born June 3, 1935 in Daley, Kentucky (Leslie County) as the daughter of Filmore and Tressie (York) Engle.
It’s in the hills of Kentucky as the fifth of nine children, where she developed her unremarkable determination and hard work ethic. Whether she was milking the cows, delivering farm goods to the locals, or caring for her brothers and sisters, Lucille completed each job with pride and heart. That perseverance continued through her adulthood during her time as a secretary at Aeronca until her retirement, as a cancer survivor, and as a selfless caregiver to the love of her life after his two life changing illnesses.
When Lucille wasn’t taking care of others, she was known to be sewing a quilt for someone she loved, starting a new craft project, fishing and camping with family, or working in her garden. And while she is no longer with us, Lucille will continue to cover us with love either by our memories of her, our photographs with her, or the quilts that were stitched by her. Lucille is preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Oliver Cox, her parents, a sister, Maxine Hamilton, two brothers, Felix Engle, Fred Engle, and a granddaughter Katherine Cox.
Lucille is survived by five children, Richard Dalton, Beth (Michael) Short, Alan (Robyn) Cox, John (Sherri) Cox, Robert (Marcia) Cox, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, two sisters, Viola (Gillis) Shepherd, Betty Jo Campbell, three brothers, Roger (Charlene) Engle, Arlis (Geneva) Engle, John (Barb) Engle, a sister in law, Irene Engle, and other countless family members and friends. A memory of life service will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Breitenbach Anderson Funeral Home, 517 South Sutphin Street, Middletown, Ohio 45044, with Senior Minister Duane Mecklem officiating. Visitation will be from 10am to 12pm with service immediately following.
