Margaret Lucille Valentine, 95, of Taylorsville, MD and formerly of Rocky Ridge, MD, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Gettysburg Hospital. Born August 16, 1923 in Thurmont, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Catherine (Seltzer) Fitez. She was the wife of the late Murray E. Valentine, who passed away in 1974.

Lucille was a nurses’ aide for 20 years at St. Joseph’s Ministries, formerly “The Villa”. She also drove a school bus for Frederick County Public Schools for 17 years. She was a life-long member of Elias Evangelical Lutheran Church in Emmitsburg, where she served on the church council and as altar chairperson.

She was a member of the Women’s ELCA, the Emmitsburg Senior Citizens, the local VFW Auxiliary and the Emmitsburg Council of Churches. Lucille enjoyed traveling, bowling, volunteering at the Emmitsburg Food Bank, and watching Orioles baseball and Maryland Terrapins basketball. She was a wonderful cook, who loved taking care of others and spending time with her family.

Surviving are her sons, Phil Valentine and wife Millie of Emmitsburg and Dale Valentine and wife Wanda of Keymar; daughter, Vickie Frushour and husband Bob of Westminster; sister, Harriet Glass and husband Kenneth of Arendtsville, PA; grandchildren, David Valentine and wife Gina of Littlestown, PA, Terri Beard and husband Donnie of Westminster, Tonya Bates and husband Will of Taneytown, Daniel Frushour and wife Amanda of Westminster and Amanda V. Frushour and friend Jeff of Sykesville; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Adam, Daulton, Cayden, Ally, Trey, Danica and Dillan; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Virginia Ennis; a brother, Robert Fitez; and a grandson, Murray Edward Valentine. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Elias Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 W. North Ave.

, Emmitsburg, MD with the Rev. Jon R. Greenstone officiating. Burial will follow at Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 26th at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lucille’s name may be made to Elias Evangelical Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 465, Emmitsburg, MD 21727 or to Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery, c/o Mr. James Kittinger, 261 Boyle Rd. , Fairfield, PA 17320.
