Obituary of Lucille Mailahn Lucille Marie Mailahn, age 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Osage Beach, MO on October 12, 2018. She was born on December 31, 1932 to Frank and Dorothy Rypma at Smith Center, KS. She grew up along the banks of the Solomon river during the great depression.

She moved with her family to Beloit, KS where she attended high school. She met her husband to be at Beatrice, NE and they married on October 17, 1959. They owned and operated their own farm for many years.

Lucy was known for working side by side with Don on the farm, raising a big garden, canning, and sewing. Her natural talents shined in her artistic, decorating, and landscaping abilities. She also volunteered at school and church.

In 1975 the family moved to Elgin, NE to expand into irrigated farming opportunities. However, due to health issues, a move took the couple to Longmont, CO where Lucille opened her first store. A final move came in 1988 to Osage Beach where she opened and operated Oak Leaf Gifts for nearly 30 years.

Upon retirement, she worked in Hy-Vee’s deli with oriental foods (her favorite). After that, she worked as a volunteer at The Hope House. She enjoyed her great grandchildren, cooking, visiting with friends, and watching her favorite Westerns, never missing The Virginian.

She is survived by her 3 daughters: Catharine Warkentin of Miltonvale, KS; Barbara Short of Cape Coral, FL; and Carol Conn of Osage Beach, MO. Grandchildren: Crystal Paredes, Damen Warkentin, Danielle Brown, Ryan Short, Rebecca Kurth, and Kenneth Conn. Great grandchildren: Jake and Mckenna Comstock, Aidan Warkentin, Hayden Conn, Riley, Serenity, Levi, and McKenzie Kurth.

Lucy will most be remembered for her determination, her love for family, and her joyful spirit. We love you! A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Lake Ozark, Missouri.

All family and friends are welcome.
