REIS A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 2nd Street NE in Hayfield, MN with Reverend Thomas Niehaus celebrating. Luthera will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. with Rosary at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 2nd Street NW in Hayfield and at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Friday.

Luthera “Lou” Mildred Reis, 97, of rural Sargeant, MN passed away peacefully on Monday, March 4, 2019, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN surrounded by her loving family. Luthera was born May 10, 1921, in Carroll County, Iowa the daughter of Edward and Neva (Miller) Subbert. At the age of three her mother passed away.

She grew up in Iowa and later attended beauty school. Luthera married Albert Reis on January 7, 1947, in Storm Lake, Iowa. The couple were happily married for 66 years.

Together they farmed near Varina, Iowa until 1950 when they moved to their farm near Sargeant. In addition to being a homemaker she worked alongside her husband driving tractors and doing farm chores. They spent many summers at Roberts Lake and Lake Tetonka near Waterville, MN.

During the winter months they were snow birds at their home in Mesa, AZ. Luthera enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing cards, spending time with her grandchildren and going to Casinos. She was a good cook and known for her fresh sweet cinnamon rolls and always having great meals.

Luthera is survived by her children, Jeanne Reis-Voeltz, Pine Island, MN; Jerry Reis, Sargeant, MN; grandchildren, Kimberly (Voeltz) Pechman (fiancé John McClelland), Lockport, NY; Elisa Voeltz (Craig Bruske), Pine Island, MN; Amanda Voeltz (Chris Carskadon), Pine Island, MN; Nicole Larson, Faribault, MN; Danielle Reis, Northfield, MN; Erin Reis, Excelsior, MN; great grandchildren, Adam Pechman, Neva Voeltz, Haylee Bruske, Isabelle Burkhart-Voeltz, Taren Burkhart-Voeltz, Paige Larson, Chase Larson, and Brayden Reis and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Albert Reis; 1 brother, Ivan Subbert; and granddaughter, Cathy Voeltz. Blessed be her memory.
