Lydia “Lee” (Becker) Peterson, 105, of New Britain, widow of the late George L. Peterson, passed away Monday (January 14, 2019) at Jerome Home. A New Britain native, she was a former Plainville resident for a period of time, but lived in New Britain most of her life. Retiring in 1974, Lee was a longtime active member at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in New Britain.

Surviving is a son, Ronald Peterson and his wife Linda of Cuero, TX; a daughter, Janet Wanik of West Palm Beach, FL; 5 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband George, she was predeceased by a granddaughter, Andrea Oden; a son-in-law, Walter Wanik; and many brothers and sisters. Funeral services are Friday 10 AM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain.

Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday morning 9 to 10 AM at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 99 Franklin Square, New Britain, CT 06051.
