Obituary of Lydia Knob LYDIA KNOB February 22, 1931 ~ September 19, 2018 Goshen, NY Lydia Knob, age 87 of Goshen, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Orange Regional Medical Center of Middletown, NY. Lydia was born February 22, 1931 in Goshen, NY. She is the daughter of the late Herbert and the late May (Daly) Nelson.

She was to married Edward S. Knob for 66 years. She was employed by Orange County Department of Mental Health as a Secretary for over 25 years. Lydia’s claim to fame was that she was the first Papergirl ever employed in Goshen, delivering the local newspaper around the village on her bike when she was a young girl.

She was also one of the earliest members of the Goshen Card Club which was formed around World War II. Local women would get together one Friday a month and play various card games and socialize. As the years went on there was more socializing going on than card playing.

Lydia was also a member of the Goshen Ladies Bowling league for many years. She was an avid knitter and got together with a group of ladies once a month to knit and crochet. In her later years she would knit numerous lap blankets for residents of local Nursing Homes as well as Veterans.

They were designed for people in wheelchairs so the blankets wouldn’t get caught in the wheels. Lydia most of all loved her family. She enjoyed when everyone got together at her house for holidays and cookouts.

Her house was small but somehow she made sure everyone had a place at her table. She is survived by her daughters, Janice L. Knob and husband, Gary Sopotnick of New Milford, CT and Peggy Fratto of Middletown, NY; son, Stephen Knob and wife, Charon of Chester, NY; grandchildren: Michael V. Fratto and wife, Danielle, Sarah Santana and husband, Steven, Brendan Knob and Gregory Knob; great-grandchildren: Nicholas and Emma Fratto, and Stella and Sloane Santana.
