Lynn Eden Franklin passed away in the loving care of Unity Hospice on July 18, 2018. Born to Arthur and Geneva (Eden) Franklin in Long Beach California, Lynn arrived into this world on October 8, 1942. He will be sadly missed by his son John Franklin, son and daughter-in-law Joel (Melina) Franklin and grandson Aaron Franklin all of Woodbury, Tennessee.

He will be dearly missed by his best friend and brother Lowell Franklin and sister-in-law Wendy Franklin of De Pere, WI. He will also be deeply missed his former wife, Judy King, of Woodbury, Tennessee, his closest friend, neighbor and tea-drinking buddy, Larry, special friends Joe and Gidget, his faithful friends and De Pere neighbors Bob and Midge and long-time friend and “current flame” Mary. Lynn was raised in Southern California and earned his Eagle Scout Award from the Boy Scouts of America.

While still in high school in Riverside, California he attended classes at the IBM training center in Los Angeles learning plugboard programming for their accounting machines. After high school, he attended California State Polytechnic University–Pomona and graduated with a degree in Computer Science. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1966 and served honorably for six years.

After basic training in San Diego, California Lynn was transferred to the Naval Station Great Lakes data center in North Chicago, Illinois and in 1968 was transferred back to California to the Long Beach Naval Station data center. After the Navy, Lynn’s civilian career in computer programming spanned 25 years. He excelled in designing and writing software for Corvus Systems, Videonics, and Central Coast WebWorks (video editing software companies) in the Silicon Valley in California.

When the company Lynn worked for went public, Lynn retired from his formal career and started an online hosting company called Hollister Online. For many years Lynn lived in the historic and beautiful community of Hollister, California. In 1995 Lynn was recognized as “Person of the Year” in Hollister and was honored for his community involvement and benevolence at their annual Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet.

In 2000 Lynn moved to Wisconsin and settled in De Pere to be close to his brother and sister-in-law and family. His kindness, intelligence, gentleness, sense of humor and generosity was enjoyed by all who knew him and loved him. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the many of Lynn’s caregivers from Unity Hospice and especially for his short time at The Jack and Engrid Meng Hospice Residence.

A visitation and celebration of his life will be held at Lyndahl Funeral Home on Monday, July 23, 2018 from 4-6 pm with a time for sharing memories and stories at 6:00 pm. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Lynn’s name.
