Mae Pearl Roberson was born on June 22, 1917. She transitioned to eternity with her Lord on January 17, 2019, at age 101. A graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Forney, Texas, Mae Pearl enjoyed a career as a domestic caregiver.

She retired from Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) after 25 years of service. She married the love of her life, Jesse Roberson, in the 1930s. Three beautiful daughters were born to their union.

The two remained united until Jesse’s transition on April 23, 1980. Mae Pearl accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Forney, Texas.

In the 1950s, she became a life-long member of Bethany Baptist Church under the leadership of A.L. Schley. There, she sang in the choir and served on the trustee board and beautification committee. She was also a part of the women’s mission ministry.

Among many hobbies, Mae Pearl enjoyed gardening, entertaining family and friends, and cooking good Sunday meals for her family. She also delighted in sharing century-wise treasures with her grandchildren, such as reasons for a long life: always keep God first, treat people right, and hold dear the first commandment with a promise, “Honor your mother and father so your days will be prolonged in the land”. Mae Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Rosie Anderson Johnson; siblings: Susie Johnson Lyons, Essie Mae Johnson Dean, Robert Johnson, Jr., Marie Johnson-Smith, Rosie Lee Johnson Jackson, Mary Lou Johnson Alexander, Finis Johnson, and James Johnson; and son-in-law, Rickey Darnell Lowe.

Those left to cherish precious memories include her daughters: Barbara Smith, Faye Hollins, and Linda Roberson Lowe; stepson, Charles Roberson; grandchildren: Gina Smith, Lisa Pharms (Waylon, Sr.), Jesse Smith, Letrese Hollins, Stephanie Hollins Caldwell (Calvin), Jessica Lowe-Betts (Justin), and Rickki Lowe Bracy (Tyrone); 11 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; church daughter, Alpha Stumon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
