Obituary for Major William G. Ashley Major William G. Ashley, 72, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018. He was born June 2, 1946 in Taft, California to William Earl Ashley and Donnie Vee (Buckmaster) Ashley. Glenn attended public schools and furthered his education at the University of Texas where he received a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master’s of Science Degree at the University of Central Texas.

Glenn proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army for more than 21 years. His love of flying allowed him to obtain training and certification to fly Apache and Cobra helicopters. He had earned the rank of Major at the time of his retirement in 1999 and received a Silver Star, Bronze Star with “V” and was awarded the Purple Heart four times along with numerous other medals and honors.

Glenn married Alyssa Gayle Stoddard on December 31, 2002 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. They shared more than 15 years of life and marriage together. His hobbies and other loves were watching NASCAR races and movies, riding Harley Davidsons, and studying history.

Glenn was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Donnie Vee Ashley; son, Glenn Aaron Ashley; brother, James Earl Ashley; stepchildren, Brik and Brandi Barker. Glenn is survived by his wife, Alyssa of the home; daughters, Angela Kay Ramirez of Georgia, Kathryn Elizabeth Ashley of Muskogee; granddaughter, Nicasia Borrego, carrying on Glenn’s honor as a member of the United States Navy; grandsons, James Anglin of Muskogee, and Alexander Lee Jones of Weatherford, TX; cousins, Bob Buckmaster of Henderson, NV and Rodney Hobby of Arkansas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.

Major William G. Ashley’s life will be celebrated at 10AM, Monday, July 9, 2018 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Military Honors being presented by the United States Army Honors Team.
