Marcella Christina (nee Hagedorn) Haskamp, 95, of Jefferson City, died on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Jefferson City Manor. Marcella was born on the family farm on November 24, 1922 in Glasgow, MO, the daughter of the late Ulysses B. and Rosa W. (Katemann) Hagedorn. Marcella grew up working on the family farm.
She graduated from Glasgow High School in 1939. She worked at Bentley and Meyer Insurance Agency in Glasgow from 1939 until 1954. She also worked at the First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson City, MO from 1970 to 1986.
In between she was a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. On January 16, 1954, she was married at St. Mary’s Church in Glasgow, MO to Hugo L. Haskamp, who preceded her in death on April 4, 1999. They lived in Moberly, MO the first three years of their marriage.
The family moved to Jefferson City in 1957. Marcella was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Jefferson City, was a charter member of Our Lady of Fatima Daughters of Isabella Circle in Glasgow, a member of the St. Rita Quilting Circle, a volunteer with the St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary for many years, and volunteered at church and school including Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration. Marcella loved to sew for her family and especially making quilts for church, school events and her family.
She was a bowler until late in life and rarely missed a St. Louis Cardinal ballgame. Survivors include two sons, Dan Haskamp of Liberty, MO; Tony Haskamp of Henley, MO; two daughters, Mary Haskamp of Lohman, MO; and Becky Haskamp of Jefferson City; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Haskamp of Lohman, MO; and one great-granddaughter, Maya Renee. She is also survived by 9 nieces and nephews and numerous grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two siblings, Cyril (Viola) Hagedorn and Mary Rose Hagedorn. Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018, at St. Peter Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev.
Charles D. Pardee officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Memorial donations can be made to the Helias Foundation, St. Peter Catholic Church or St. Andrew Catholic Church in Holts Summit.
