Obituary for Marcia L. Gokey It is with a mixture of sadness, yet joy, that the family of Marcia (Ozios) Gokey announces her leaving us to be with the Lord, family and friends that had gone on before her. We are saddened by her absence, but joyful that her suffering is over. Marcia had a long and difficult battle with Alzheimer’s.
She has finally surrendered by choosing it was time for her lifelong goal to be with Jesus. Marcia was born October 11, 1947, and her departure was on her birthday, October 11, 2018 at the age of 71. She was married on October 23, 1965 and will be lovingly remembered by Leonard, her husband of 53 years; their children: Lisa (Mark) Kolbe, Julie Byersmith and Jonathan Gokey.
She will also be fondly remembered by her nine grandchildren: Kayla, Allison, Kyle, Andrew, Anthony, Anne, Alyssa, Jonathan and Lana; great grandson: Isaac; sister: Pam (Joseph) Alexander; brothers: Dan (Jenny) Ozios, Dave (Julie) Ozios. She was preceded in death by her mother and father. Marcia had been employed by many different employers, but most recently with the Wilk and Son Insurance Company for approximately 12 years, retiring in 2013.
Marcia loved her family and was an excellent of provision and guidance for her children. The written word of God was embedded in her heart and mind. If anyone had a question about faith, Marcia enjoyed sharing the treasure of knowledge with them.
For fun, she loved any opportunity to gather with family. She, together with Len, enjoyed boating in the summer and long rides in the country. She liked riding in her little red convertible while listening to CD’s of worship music or songs from the 50’s and 60’s.
A celebration of Marcia’s life will be held Tuesday, October 16 at 11:00 AM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
