Obituary for Vincent H. Dostert “Sabreliner Two Hotel Whiskey (N2HW), you are cleared for final”. On October 4, 2018, Vincent H. Dostert, age 94, took his final flight and has now rejoined the love of his life, Alma, who preceded him in death on November 13, 2009, after nearly 65 years of marriage. Vincent was born to William and Hazel (Hillier) Dostert on July 27, 1924 in Saulte St. Marie, Michigan.

The family moved to the Lakeside area in Muskegon when Vince was an infant, where he attended Bunker Schools. Upon graduation from Muskegon High School in 1942, Vince entered the U.S. Army Air Corps Flight Training School, becoming a World War II C-46 pilot. Following the war, Vince proudly served in the Air Force Reserve as a Captain.

In 1959, Vince, along with his friend Muriel Brown, co-founded Executive Air Transport, a fixed base operation in Muskegon. Vince took great pride in the fact that Executive Air continues to be a thriving business in Muskegon. Following the sale of Executive Air in 1971, Vince became Chief Corporate Pilot for Howmet Corporation, retiring in 1987.

Vince was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rev. William Dostert; and sister-in-law, Christine Dostert. Survivors include his sister, Virginia (Jack) Gray of Fort Wayne, Indiana; son, Stephen (Susan French) Dostert; daughter, Lynelle Brown; son, David (Carol) Dostert; daughter, Lisa (Dwight) Stafford, along with eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

It was in Lincoln, Nebraska on Christmas Day 1944 that Vince married Alma Alice Peck. Vince and Alma enjoyed life to the fullest and were blessed with many friends throughout their years as members at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, as well as time spent with their friends boating, traveling in their motor home, snowmobiling, and wintering in Tucson, Arizona. After Alma’s passing, it was no secret that Vince missed her with all his heart.

If you listen closely, Vince can be heard saying “I love you all, but please do not grieve for me as I am now reunited with my true love and that is where I am meant to be”.
