Phyllis Sophia Berg-Dubbink, age 88 of Grand Haven, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018 at a local care facility. She was born on November 21, 1929 in Muskegon, MI to the late Oscar and Jessie (Marigold) Bengston. Phyllis married Robert Berg on September 9, 1950, and he preceded her in death in 1985, after 35 years of marriage.

She then married Howard Dubbink on March 27, 1993 in Grand Haven, and they were married for 25 years before her passing. She worked as a secretary for the Ottawa County Treasurer, and also worked for Dirkse Electric and Miller-Smith for many years. Phyllis was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ of Grand Haven.

She loved to sew, and enjoyed doing embroidery work, pillow-quilting, gardening, singing, and babysitting her great-grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband, Howard; daughter, Linda Berg of Grand Haven; son, Robert (Jackie) Berg of West Olive; step-sons, Victor (Dawn) Dubbink of Overisel, Bruce (Deb) Dubbink of Grand Rapids, Brian (Susan) Dubbink of Grandville, and Scott (Jen) Dubbink of Livonia; grandson, Jeff (Kathy) Richard; nine step-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, Bianca, Carra, and Jeffrey Richard; sister, Dolores Michele of Grand Haven; niece, Helen Jo (Scott) Kelsey; and nephew, Joe (Sue) Cauduill. Phyllis was preceded in death by her sisters, Monica Fuchshafer, Helen Morse, Eleanor Wood; and her brother, Floyd Ryan.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ with Pastors Matthew Schmitt and Doug Fauble officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 3rd from 5 to 8 p.m. at Klaassen Family Funeral Home, and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.
