Obituary for Marcia Santovenia Marcia Santovenia, a longtime resident of Beacon, entered into rest on December 22, 2018 at home. She was 87 years old. Marcia was born in Banes, Cuba on March 3, 1931 the daughter of the late Ricardo Gorrin and Leonida de la Caridad Almira.

On November 7, 1960 in Cuba she married Rolando Santovenia. Mr. Santovenia survives at home. Together they came to America as refugees and settled in Beacon to create a new life together.

Marcia retired from the Howland Public Library where she was a librarian. She was a devout Catholic and was a parishioner of St. Joachim – St. John the Evangelist Church and also attended Mass at the Carmelite Monastery in Beacon. She was also a member of the Hispanic Society and Comite Mi Gente.

In addition to her husband, Marcia is survived by her sons, Rick Santovenia, Ralph Santovenia and his wife, Effie and Rei Santovenia and his wife, Erica; her grandson, Donovan Ellis; her sister, Nilda Gorrin Almira.
