Margaret Mae Lawrence, age 96, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Louisburg Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Louisburg, Kansas. She was born June 21, 1922 in Jasper, Missouri the daughter of Harry and Hazel (Hightower) Minkler. She was united in marriage to Elmer J. Lawrence on February 11, 1940 at Lemar, Mo.

She was a past member of the Eastern Star for 25 years and served as Worthy Matron in 1969. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Louisburg for over 60 years. Margaret was a very family-oriented person, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Elmer Lawrence, her parents, Harry and Hazel Minkler; five brothers, Raymond, Ralph, Max, Robert & Gary Minkler; two sisters, Helen Lawver and Nadine McCully and one granddaughter, Andrea Leigh Chitwood. Survivors include her three daughters, Nancy (Lou) Neck, Judy (Gary) Dibben and Janice (Jim) Gardner; seven grandchildren, Angie (Damon) Wolf, Mike Chitwood, Melissa Soto, Marc Chitwood, Aaron Chitwood, Justin Gardner and Janell Bouse; 14 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson on the way. The visitation will be held on Wednesday June 27, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Louisburg, Kansas.
