Margaret “Marge” R. Gresko, 98 Austintown…A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. John Catholic Church in Campbell, with Msgr. Peter Polando officiating, for Margaret “Marge” R. Gresko, 98, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Friday afternoon, Sept. 7, 2018, three weeks short of her 99th birthday.
She was born, Sept. 27, 1919 in Denora, Pa. , the daughter of Andrew and Mary Bacha Misik.
Marge, a devout Catholic who believed in the power of prayer, was a former member of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church in Farrell, Pa. , where she enjoyed singing in the choir and leading the rosary. She attended Mt.
Assissi Academy and was a 1938 graduate of Farrell High School, where she also worked as an assistant secretary to the superintendent. She also belonged to the Ladies Catholic Slovak Association. After graduation, she worked in the office at Sharon Steel before she became a typist in the Order Service Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp.
for 15 years. Marge fell in love and married George R. Gresko on Oct. 8, 1955 at St. John the Baptist Church in Campbell, where they became devoted members.
They met during the many “big band” dances held at Idora Park Ballroom back in the day and were married for 58 years. They raised a family of five children who will always cherish her loving, giving and caring ways. She was a fabulous cook and everyone enjoyed her delicious Slovak meals.
She loved to read, watch TV and old movies, as well as play Bingo. She was active in her church. Marge leaves her beloved daughters, Jeri (Ralph) Girardi of Austintown, Maureen (Mark) Fiorina of Akron, and Gloria Gresko of Panama City, Fl; her son, Richard (Gina) Gresko of Austintown; daughter-in-law, Marion Gresko of Niles; and four loving grandchildren, Kenny, Michael, Morgan and Anthony.
Besides her parents; and her husband George; Marge was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Gresko; seven brothers and one sister, William, John, Anthony, Michael, Paul, Andrew, George and Infant Mary Misik. Marge’s family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care she received the past three years at Humility House in Austintown as well as the Hospice House in her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent for masses in her remembrance or donations to Hospice of the Valley.
The Gresko family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell and will receive family and friends on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, 159 Reed Ave. in Campbell.
