Margaret’s Obituary Margaret Vanderslice Swenson, 96, of Langhorne, died Sunday, February 17, 2019 in Attleboro Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late Roland G. Swenson, Sr., who died in 2008. Born in Philadelphia in 1922, she was a daughter of the late Leslie & Edna (Henning) Cruise.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Margaret J. Gillespie, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; her sons, Roland Swenson (Darlene), of Perkasie; and William Swenson (Eileen), of Bensalem; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; her brother, Leslie Cruise (Shirley), of Horsham; her sisters, Edna DiCicco (Lou), of Langhorne; Dorothy Crawford, of Langhorne; and her sisters-in-law, Betty Cruise, of Horsham; and Alice Kidd, of Pennsburg. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janis (nee Motta) DiTrampi; and her brother, David Cruise. Mrs. Swenson was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a nurse during WWII.

Following her service, she worked many years as an OR nurse and as an instructor in Operating Room technique. She also had many hobbies including crafting, gardening, metal detecting, traveling, photography, and genealogy. The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of Attleboro Nursing Center for their excellent care and comfort extended to Margaret over the past 6 years.

Relatives and friends may attend her viewing Thursday, February 21 after 12:00 p.m. in the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Avenue, Lansdale, where her funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville.
