Naugatuck-Maria Amelia (Roque) Paiva, age 77, widow of Jose A. Paiva, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Friday November 16, 2018. Mrs. Paiva was born in Cadima Cantahede, Portugal on April 22, 1941, daughter of the late Amadeu Jorge and Maria Da Natividade Gomes Roque. She settled in Naugatuck with her family in 1983 and had lived for 32 years in Brazil before coming to the United States.

Maria was a member of the Naugatuck Senior Center and a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. She enjoyed walking and the outdoors. Maria is survived by her three sons, Jose R. Paiva of Boca Raton, FL, Eduardo A. Paiva of New Braunfels, TX, and Amadeu S. Paiva of Tampa, FL; her daughter Cristina Carvalho of Naugatuck; her seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother Manuel. Her funeral will be held on Monday November 19, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin Street, Waterbury, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held on Monday morning from 8:30a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
