Marilyn Faye (Kramar) Mead, 72, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2019 in her home after a four-year battle with lung cancer and emphysema. She was born to the late Hiram S. and Margaret Grace (Colby) Kramar on October 30, 1946 in Beloit, WI. Marilyn and her twin sister, Carolyn were the youngest of ten children, all of whom played musical instruments.

They attended South Beloit High School. She married Fred S. Mead on October 14, 1967 in Beloit, WI, and they were married for 45 years. Marilyn enjoyed working at Rockford Health System, Pioneer Life Insurance, and West Corp.

over the years until she and Fred retired in Maui. They returned to the Stateline four years later. Survivors her children, Catrina “Tina” (Darren) Miller of Loves Park, IL, and Craig Mead of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Ryan and Joey Miller, and Kristin Mueller; sister, Alberta Amstutz of Rockton, IL; a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews many whom she considered as her siblings.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband Fred, daughter Deborah Elaine Mueller, grandson Brandon Mueller, brothers Gerald L. Kramar, Stephen “Bud” Kramar, and Orin Kramar, sisters Elaine Love, Beverly Wells, Betty Campbell, Shirley Dahlberg, and twin sister Carolyn Mae Hagood. Funeral service for Marilyn will be at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2019 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Burial will be in Floral Lawn Cemetery, South Beloit, IL.

Visitation of remembrance will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name to Hoo Haven Wildlife Rehabilitation & Education Center (Owl Ambassadors) or UIC College of Medicine at Rockford Lung Cancer Research led by Dr. Neelu Puri.
