Obituary for Marilyn Young Marilyn Jean (Nystuen) Young passed away July 29, 2018. She was born December 7, 1929, to Vernon H. and Esther (Bjelland) Nystuen in Lake Mills, IA. She was married to Keith F. Young August 6, 1950.

Together they made their home in Cedar Falls for over 57 years. Keith passed away on July 29, 2012. Marilyn graduated from Iowa State Teachers College with a teaching certificate in 1949.

Marilyn taught in Gowry, IA, then in Janesville, IA after her marriage to Keith. She graduated with a BA in Library Science in 1970 from State College of Iowa, and a Masters degree in Media Education from UNI. Marilyn worked at Cedar Falls schools as a media specialist in elementary buildings for many years.

Marilyn and Keith raised five children and enjoyed traveling, always together. She also was an avid wrestling fan and voracious reader. Marilyn is survived by her children, Scott (Marilyn Dee) of Pendleton OR, Kim (Jim) Young-Kent Dike, IA, Deb (Mike) Sundin Litchfield MN, Mark (Gina) St. Paul MN and Randy (Mary) of Mesa, AZ; twelve grandchildren: Taia Young, Jake (Megan) Youngkent, Ben (Becky) Youngkent, Katie (Jason) Strub, Kelley Sundin, Nicole Sundin, Alex (Lisa) Sundin, Jackson Young, Banning Young, Haley Young, Hannah (Brennan) Augustine, and Delaney Young: eight great grandchildren; and one sister , Marge Seegers of Clive, IA.

Memorial Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, August 2nd at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4 to 7 Wednesday at Richardson Funeral Service and also for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment at a later date in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens in Cedar Falls.
