Obituary for Mario Rios M.D. age 85, of Louisville, KY died quietly on Saturday evening, April 28, 2018 at home with his loving family after a 15 year battle with Parkinson’s. He was born April 21, 1933 in Quimbaya, Colombia. After finishing his primary education, he went on to Medical School in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he met his beautiful wife of 55 years, Ruth Susana Rios.

Mario and Ruth moved to the United States in 1966 with their family. Over the next 52 years they lived in Texas, Missouri and Louisville, Kentucky. Dr. Rios worked for many years for Park DuValle Community Health Center in Shepherdsville and Taylorsville.

He was loved by his patients and his staff. He was a sweet and loving husband, father, son and Papi to all his grandchildren. He especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He loved to laugh and emphasized the importance of family. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Rios of Louisville, Kentucky, his mother, Maria Rios of Miami, Florida; his daughter, Cynthia Pace (Julian Pace) of Louisville, Kentucky, his son, John J Rios (Teri Rios) of Nashville, Tennessee and son, Alex Rios (Tessa Rios) of Bowling Green, Kentucky; grandchildren, Amelia Pace, Nicholas Pace, Ashley Elizabeth Daniels, Luke Rios, Roman Rios, and Isabella Rios; step-grandchildren, Dylan Boyd, and Tea Prince. He was an active member of St. Matthews Baptist Church.

A tribute of his life will be shared at Rattermans Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Rd, Louisville, KY. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Ratterman.

A private burial will follow at Floydsburg Cemetery in Crestwood, KY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson Support Center of Kentuckiana Inc.
