Marion (Brooks) Muschell, 78, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018, at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Victor M. Muschell for 54 years. Marion was born September 6, 1939, in Bristol, CT, daughter of the late Henry and Catherine (Stanislawski) Brooks.

A Registered Nurse, she graduated from the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing, earned her BS Degree from Boston College, and was inducted into Yale University’s International Honor Society of Nursing while she was pursuing her Masters. She was employed by Charlotte Hungerford Hospital for 40 years and also served as a visiting nurse for the Brooker Memorial. She, along with Carol Pathe, founded the Torrington Area Parkinsons Support Group.

Committed to her community, she was a board member of the Brooker Memorial, the United Way and the Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory. She was a recipient of the Rotary Paul Harris Fellow Award. Devoted to her faith, she also served as a Deacon at Center Congregational Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Donna Muschell Mattiello and her husband Brian of Torrington, CT and Brooke Muschell Joiner and her husband Ben of Burlington, CT; seven grandchildren, Aiden, Olivia, Justin, Amanda, Jasmine Mattiello, Jack and Charlie Joiner, a nephew Gary Luboyeski, a niece, Gail Carrow, as well as many friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Brooks Luboyeski Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Center Congregational Church, 155 Main St., Torrington, CT at 11:00 a.m. A consummate nurse, Marion is donating her body to science for research pertaining to Parkinson’s Disease.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Torrington Area Parkinsons Support Group, Brooker Memorial or Hospice at Northwest VNA.
