Marion R. Ulrich, age 94, of Sumner, Illinois passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Helia Healthcare in Olney, Illinois. He was born February 20, 1925 in Lawrence County, Illinois the son of Harry C. and Myrtle (Roberts) Ulrich. He married Genelle Fritchley on November 22, 1945 and she preceded him in death on August 5, 2017.

Marion retired from Marathon Oil Company. He was also a farmer and a musician. He enjoyed country and gospel music, played bass guitar in a gospel group, and had his own recording studio.

His hobbies included coon hunting and playing bingo. He was a member of the VFW and the Beulah United Methodist Church, where he was very active. He served his country in the United States Navy in WWII.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Genelle; one son, Larry; and two brothers, Norval and Orval. Survivors include three sons, Robert Ulrich and wife, Nancy, of Sumner, Illinois, Lynn Ulrich and wife, Betsy, of Sumner, Illinois, and Mark Ulrich and wife, Barbara, of Del Norte, Colorado; one daughter, Glenda Allen and husband, Farrell, of Dundas, Illinois; 20 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 32 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois.

Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Sumner Cemetery with military rites. To send a memorial gift to the family of Marion R. Ulrich please visit our Sympathy Store.
