Marjie Lee Smith September 05, 1940 – February 22, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Margie Lee Smith, 78, of Rock Springs, Wyoming passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019 in Salt Lake City, Utah. A longtime resident of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Margie died following a lengthy illness. She was born on September 5, 1940 in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Arthur T. and Mary Agnes Sanborn.

Margie attended school in Tripoli, North Africa and was a 1958 graduate of Wheelus high school. She also attended college in Washington, D.C. and earned a degree in Nursing. Later, she attended and graduated from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado where she earned a degree in Biology and Chemistry and continued on to get a teaching certificate.

It was at Adam State where she met the love of her life Kale W Smith. Margie eventually became a realtor and broker and opened her own business, Rock Springs Realty. Margie married Kale W. Smith on August 22, 1969 in Alamosa, Colorado.

They were married forty-nine years. She was a member of First Assembly of God where she served on the board, also a board member of Commerce Bank and Sweetwater County Board of Realtors. Margie lived life to the fullest.

Margie has been quoted to say “if you don’t have fun, what’s the use of living”. She was the life of every party and celebrated life in all that she did. Margie never met a stranger and happily gave to those she knew, those she just met and those in need.

She enjoyed traveling, shopping, working and having coffee with friends and family. She loved real estate and all the people she was blessed to work with. Survivors include her husband Kale W. Smith of Rock Springs; two sons Brian Smith and wife Annika of Rock Springs and Darin Smith and wife Alicia of Cheyenne, Wyoming; two daughters Cindy Johnson and husband Theros of West Jordan, Utah and Diana Mercer and husband Gentry of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one brother Arthur Sanborn and wife Ellen of Webster, Florida; fifteen grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and two more great-grandchildren on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral Services will be held on March 2, 2019 at the Freight Depot in downtown Rock Springs. The Viewing will be at 11:00 am, Services at 12:00 pm followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 pm.

Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 4, 2019 at the Pinedale Cemetery in Pinedale, Wyoming.
