GREENFIELD – Marjorie Anne (Ellis) Arthur, age 97, of Greenfield, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2019 at Springhurst Health Campus. She was born in Greenfield on January 6, 1922 to Otis and Bertha (Harding) Ellis. She graduated from Greenfield High School.

Marjorie married Robert L. Arthur on February 15, 1942 in Hancock County. She was a member of Philadelphia United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women’s Group. Marjorie enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, reading, playing cards, and baking pies.

She proudly made her own clothes and loved being a mom and grandma. Marjorie is survived by her son, Ron (Beth) Arthur of Greenfield; daughter, Peggy (Terry) Wallace of Lima, Ohio; 4 grandchildren, Rebecca (Scott) Laman, Brian (Ann Marie) Wallace, Kathy (Jeffrey) Lee, and Matthew (Stefani) Arthur; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Kelly of Ft. Myers, Florida; niece, Susan Ellis of Nevada; and nephew, Robert Ellis of Carthage.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Bertha Ellis; husband, Robert Arthur; brothers, James and Richard Ellis; and half-sister, Marian Quinn. Marjorie’s wishes were to have a private service with her family. Pastor Carl Coffey will be officiating.

Entombment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to Philadelphia United Methodist Church, 2265 West US 40. Friends may share a memory or a condolence at www.
