GREENFIELD – Janet Marlene (Garrard) Casey, age 82, of Greenfield, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2019. She was born in Robinson, Illinois on October 12, 1936. She attended Arsenal Tech High School.

Janet received her associate’s degree in nursing from Indiana University in 1981 and her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Ball State University in 1988. She married Floyd Lee Casey on May 20, 1967 at Greenfield Friends Church. She was a registered nurse for Community Hospital East in the ICU where she attained her CCRN certification.

She also worked for Community Hospital North as a nurse within the risk management department. After 16 years she retired from Community Health Network in 1998. Janet was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, where she was a prior treasurer, Sunday school teacher, and sang in the choir.

She enjoyed gardening, quilting, knitting, reading, camping, fishing, and solving crossword and jig saw puzzles. Janet loved to keep traditions alive and would teach her grandchildren the lost arts. She was young at heart, selfless, and thankful for her many blessings.

Janet is survived by her sons, Daniel (Candace) Doolin of New Palestine and Charles Doolin of Indianapolis; daughters, Marsha (David) Meckel of Greenfield and Sandra Casey of Spring Lake; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant son, James Gregory Doolin; husband, Floyd L. Casey; mother and stepfather, Millie and Hank Pritchett; stepsister, Lynn Stahl; and stepbrother, Alan Pritchett. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy.

40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 3:00 p.m., beginning with a nurses honor guard service. Pastor Brent Smith will be officiating.

Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Greenfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to the Faith United Methodist Church, 328 N. Swope Street, Greenfield, IN 46140 or Hancock Health Foundation – Hospice, 801 N. State Greenfield, IN 46140. Envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
