GREENFIELD – Jim Bill Hoffman, age 75, of Greenfield, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019. He was born in Indianapolis on September 14, 1943 to James and Jane (McComb) Hoffman. He graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School in 1962.

Jim served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1963-1969. He most recently worked for JWF Specialty as a claims adjuster for many years before retiring. Jim was also an Officer for the Hancock County Sheriffs Department for many years.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police in Greenfield, Hancock County Sheriffs Association, National Sheriffs Association. Jim loved boating, skiing, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed working on race cars and spent many years boating and skiing on the Ohio River with the Lilly Boat Club.

Jim is survived by his daughters, Dawn (David) Braun and Heather Wornstaff both of Greenfield; five grandchildren, Briana Webb, Ethan Braun, Emily Keen, Skylar Wornstaff, and Alexis Wornstaff; great-grandson, Aiden Frazier; brother, Jack (Elly) Hoffman of Carmel; former wife and mother of children, Marlene Copeland; former wife, Darla Hoffman; her children, Tony Wicker, Lisa Lofgreen; and her grandchildren, Christopher, Dusty, Kelly, Toni Leigh, Chelsea, Michael; and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Jane Hoffman; brother, Jan Hoffman; and sister, Nancy Dennis. Celebration of life gathering will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2019, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy.

40, Greenfield, IN 46140. Burial will take place at a later date at Curry’s Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to the FUSE, Inc., 1133 W Main Suite E, Greenfield, Indiana 46140 or envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
