Mark Bernard Carolus passed away unexpectedly May 7, 2018 while vacationing in Nevada. He leaves behind his best friend and wife Barbara Carolus, his daughter and her husband Kelly and Brian Kashas, his son and his wife Adam and Amy Carolus, his daughter and her husband Laura and Jake Cram, his daughter and her husband Megan and Ante Kovacevic, his step-son and his fiancé Matthew Alden and Tori Lake, his grandchildren Joseph, Aaron, Andy, Madison, Ella, Luke, Alyna, Ben, Grace, Anna, James, Elizabeth, Nicholas, Connor and Norah. Mark is also survived by his brother and his wife Michael and Carol Carolus, his sister and her husband Patricia and Ralph Corey, his sister and her husband MaryAnn and Lynn Brown, his sister JoMarie Carolus and 15 nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother Martin and Ellen Carolus, his step-son Jeremiah Alden and his grandson Kyle Stillion. Mark was born a middle child in Yakima, Washington on October 8, 1948. When he was 2 his family moved to his mother’s native state of Alaska, moving back to Yakima when he was 8.

As a child he spent most of his time outdoors playing with his older brother and sister, fishing and hunting with his dad, brother and friends and roaming the town finding fun and adventure in everything he could. At 18 he joined the Coast Guard where he served four years as a ship cook. After leaving the Coast Guard to raise his family with his first wife, he worked at several jobs.

The longest was with Fred Meyer where he was a warehouseman and supervisor for 24 years. In 2015 he retired from King County Metro where he was a transit operator for the last 9 years of his working career. Mark was looking forward to learning to play the banjo, traveling with his wife Barbara, spending time with his children and watching his grandchildren grow.

They were the light of his life. He was loved by all who met him as he was a kind and loving man who brought laughter everywhere he went. He will be deeply missed.

Memorial services will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday May 20th at Believers Fellowship, 4112 Hunt St NW, Gig Harbor Washington 98335.
