OBITUARY Mark Daniel Villarreal December 16, 1980 – July 15, 2018 Mark Daniel Villarreal, age 37, unexpectedly claimed his inheritance as a sinner, saved by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ on July 15, 2018. There is no more grief, pain, loneliness, nor any struggle. Forevermore, he will bask in the love, peace and joy of his Lord and Savior.
Mark was preceded in death by his loving mother, Sharon Villarreal; grandparents, Santiago and Juanita Villarreal, Donald and Leola Eubank; and his aunt, Virginia Swift. He is survived by his father, James Villarreal of DeWitt. Extended family, Bob (Teresa) Villarreal, Mary, Matthew (Emily), and Camila, Rebekah (Daniel) Kochan.
Nancy Eubank (Steve Edler) and Brigette (Andrew) Mason. Cathy Jo (Robert) Deer and Brie. Gary (Nancy) Swift, Stefan, Erica and Cameron.
Mark began his life as a full-term baby weighing less than two pounds with an extended stay in the neonatal intensive care unit at Sparrow Hospital. The ramifications of his low birth weight and prenatal anomalies made it difficult to navigate through some of life’s expectations, hopes and dreams. He was homeschooled and during his high school years was a proud member of the state championship Lansing Crusaders basketball team, with one game logging 11 of 11 three-point shots.
He traveled with his friend and teammate, John to Colorado to participate in the national tournament and sank 27 consecutive three-pointers during practice. He excelled at tennis and participated in recreational baseball. Mark maintained longstanding relationships with his friends and their families, especially John, Michael, and Christopher.
Computer gaming, cooking, listening to music, playing the drums, singing, as well as painting were the activities Mark most enjoyed. He was well-read in history and politics and could provide anyone with an evidenced debate. Mark had a keen interest in professional and collegiate sports with an incredible memory for names and statistics.
Mark was generous with his time and money, nonjudgmental, polite, and had a sweet disposition. It was not unusual for him to have lengthy conversations with his mother or grandmother. Mark was a rdzt/ of comfort to his mother for many years as her health declined becoming a caregiver, physically and emotionally.
He was most recently a Lansing area Uber driver providing safe travel to an interesting, varied population. The sound of his voice, his sarcastic jokes, playful nature with his dog, Mai, and an enthusiastic Star Wars fan are no longer available to enjoy. He passed as a young man with an old soul and will be dearly missed.
Thank you, Lord, for our time together. Graveside service July 25, 11 a.m. at DeWitt City Cemetery.
