OBITUARY Elna Ilene Corneil March 23, 1931 – August 31, 2018 Elna I (Eaton) Corneil DeWitt Elna Ilene (Eaton) Corneil, 87, of DeWitt, Michigan, our loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, surrounded by her children, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Independence Village in Grand Ledge, MI. She was born in Monmouth, New Jersey on March 23, 1931 to Harold and Mildred (Neblung) Eaton. She graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in Lansing, MI in 1949, and she married the love of her life, Gerald Gordon Corneil, at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Lansing, MI, on September 2, 1950.

She was always a hard worker, full of energy, and would help anyone who was in need. She was a stay at home mom and took care of many other children during this time. She entered the workforce in 1974, when she started working for JoAnn Fabrics, working her way up to Assistant Manager.

Her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the most important people in her life. Both Gerry and Elna attended all sporting events and awards ceremonies for their children and grandchildren. In addition, she enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, crocheting, leather tooling, and, for a while, did braille work for the seeing impaired.

She also adored her many pets through the years. Elna was predeceased in death by her loving husband, Gerry, her father, Harold, mother, Mildred, sister, Helen McKinsey Morgan, father-in-law, Glen Corneil, mother-in-law, Rena Corneil, and sister-in-law, Shirley Corneil Rosenbrook. Elna is survived by her sons, Michael (Nancy) Corneil of Grand Rapids, MI and Jeffrey (Sandy) Corneil of Puyallup, WA, and daughter Janice Rolls of DeWitt, MI.

Grandchildren, Matthew Corneil, Shawn (Sam) Corneil, Michelle (Eric) Jenkinson, Joshua (Maria) Corneil, Sarah (Franklin) Maurer, Alex Rolls and Andrew Rolls, and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held for immediate family only. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to the Capital Area Humane Society of Lansing, MI in honor of Elna Corneil.
