Mark Joseph Smith, 63, of Portland, ME, formerly of Newfoundland, PA, passed away May 23, 2018, surrounded by family in Portland, ME. He was born March 21, 1955, in Scranton, PA to Douglas Bernard Smith and Lynn Hinds Reese. Mark received his Nursing license from Monroe County Vocational and Technical School.

He worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Pocono Medical Center and, after moving to Maine, at Milestone Recovery for 5 years and Casa, Inc. for 10 years. Mark was a man of Christian faith. He was a very generous and kind-hearted person who would help anyone in need.

He had a talent for and enjoyed working on electronics. He enjoyed camping and spending time by the ocean. He also loved to spend time with his family and friends.

Mark was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his father, Douglas Bernard Smith. He is survived by his mother, Lynn Hinds Reese of Moscow, PA; brother, Garry D. Smith of Sarasota, FL; sisters, Lori Johnson and Traci Greening and her husband Thomas, both of Spring Brook Township, PA; niece, Ashley Greening of Spring Brook Township, PA; friend and partner, Michael Meyn of Portland, ME; and friend, Donna Hinds of Portland, ME. Services will be announced.
