Mark Thomas Bessey, age 58, of Paw Paw, passed away September 12, 2018. He was born in Paw Paw on September 24, 1959 to Tom and Joanne Bessey whom survive. Also surviving is his brother, Jeffrey (Anne) Bessey of Woodbury, New Jersey, sister, Cynthia Hatfield of Norton Shores, Michigan along with two nephews, Jason and Matthew and one niece Sarah.

Mark graduated from Paw Paw High School in 1979 and joined the Army. He mainly served in Germany prior to reassignment to Fort Hood Texas. While serving in Fort Hood Texas he suffered a severe closed-head injury in August of 1981.

After eight months, Mark was discharged from the Army and has undergone many out-patient treatments at the VA in Battle Creek. After returning to Paw Paw, Mark met Rebeca Mitchell. Together they joined a wonderful friendship and union that endures today.

Mark and Becky built a new home in rural Paw Paw. Mark will be laid to rest with military honors on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Battle Creek.
