Marlene L. Wellnitz, 81, of Moline, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Genesis Illini in Silvis. Per Marlene’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be at a later date at Alpha Cemetery.

Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., is assisting the family. Marlene was born March 18, 1937, the daughter of Thomas Lucas and Henrietta (Sheperd) Lucas. She married Jerry Wellnitz on February 14, 1974 in Moline.

She had her Master of Nursing from Western University and worked as an RN, retiring from Fransican Hospital and Robert Young. She was the first class of Parish nurses and enjoyed gardening and crossword puzzles. Survivors include her husband, Jerry; daughter, Tammy (James) Laud, East Moline; son, Todd Saathoff, Moline; granddaughter, Tabitha Denys, Silvis; stepson, Kenneth Wellnitz, Germany, and a brother, Richard Lucas, Carbon Cliff.

She was preceded by her parents, brothers Ronnie, Robert, sister Beverly Platt, and her previous husband, Keith Saathoff. Memories may be shared at www. esterdahl.com.
