Marman Douglas Terry was born to Hugh and Bessie (Churchill) Terry, May 1, 1926 in the home, in Borger, Texas. He peacefully departed this world February 8, 2019 at Beaurogard Memorial Hospital, DeRidder, Louisiana, reaching the age of 92. Dad grew up in west Texas the 7th of 9 children.

Fun was found in the things available around them. Mischief abounded with so many siblings. Fishing and hunting was prominent in the family and dad was an avid fisherman all his life.

Two weeks out of every year was usually spent at the lake with his brothers and stories of yesteryear were told and retold around the fire and the laughter was heard all through the camp. Dad’s schooling began in west Texas and finished in North West Arkansas after moving there. He spent four years at the University of Arkansas graduating with a business degree.

He spent his time occupied by the USDA as an inspector for chicken plants. This is where he met his life’s companion Lois Zismann. They married June 29, 1962 and spent 56 happy years together.

Two children were born to this union. Dad saw lots of changes in his life. He remembered the first model T Ford that his dad bought.

He lived through the great depression and was enlisted in the Navy during World War II. He saw the first cars, the first planes and the first computers and cell phones. His life was filled with many changes around him but through it all he maintained a steady solid commitment to his family that is an encouragement to us all.

In his later years there was a softening in his life and he accepted the struggles of old age as they came. As life neared its end his testimony was that he knew of nothing standing in his way and that he was ready to go. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Lois, two children David Terry and wife Erlene of Colcord, Oklahoma and Cheryl Holdeman and husband Adrian of DeRidder, Louisiana; seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
