Marshall Clay Webb, age 87, resident of Oakland and husband of the late Patty Sue Thompson Webb, departed this life Wednesday evening, July 4, 2018 at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville. Funeral Services for Mr. Webb will be conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday, July 8, 2018 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. The officiating ministers will be Bro.

Carl Doyle and Bro. Eddie Little. Interment will follow in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64.

A visitation for Mr. Webb will be from 5 to 8 P.M. Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland. Mr. Webb was born April 11, 1931 in Marianna, Arkansas, the son of Rube Webb and Melissa Jane Robinson Webb.

He received his education in the Marianna, Arkansas School System and was married July 14, 1951 to the former Patty Sue Thompson who preceded him in death on August 6, 2015. He was self-employed as a candy salesman for over 30 years before his retirement in the early 90’s and was a resident of Fayette County since 1970. Mr. Webb was a member of the Oakland First Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.

He will be remembered for being a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. Mr. Webb is survived by his daughter, Tammy Barnett (David) of Oakland, TN; two sons, Mike Webb (Mary) of Bartlett, TN, Tommy Webb (Kathy) of Oakland, TN; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves a very special extended family, Debbie and Eddie Duncan, Virgil and Linda Claunch, Bubba and Harriet Claunch and Jimmy Claunch.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Annie Mae Parks, Ilene Sims; and his brother, Buford Webb. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Jason Webb, Bobby Barnett, Clay Barnett, Quentin Webb, Wes Greenland and Trip Gilchrist. Honorary pallbearers will be Bubba Claunch, Jimmy Claunch and Virgil Claunch.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Baptist Reynolds Hospice House, 1520 W. Poplar Avenue, Collierville, TN 38017 or the Arthritis Foundation, 1355 Peachtree Street NE, Suite 600, Atlanta, GA 30309.
