Martha Jean Norwood Stone, 84, died Monday, October 15, 2018, at Bethea Baptist Retirement Community, Darlington. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, October 18, 2018, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, Scranton, with burial to follow at Matthews Cemetery, Lake City. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Stone was born on August 30, 1934 in Florence County, daughter of the late McRoy Cantey and Bessie Mae Gray Cantey. She was first married to the late Harold Eugene Norwood and later to the late Leon Stone. Mrs. Stone was a member of Matthews Tabernacle and was a retired Home Health Nurse with DHEC.

She enjoyed shopping and cooking. Surviving are her son, Allen Norwood of Scranton; grandchildren, Tonya Norwood, Tracey McGee, Lee Norwood, Shiloh Grimsley, Chyvon Kousatli, A.J. Norwood and Alexis Norwood; twelve great grandchildren; three step children; a number of step grandchildren; sisters, Mary Nell Winchester and Pamela Cantey Parrott; brother, Roy (Doreen) Cantey, Jr.; and numerous special nieces and nephews. Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by her children, Tony Norwood and Leroy “Pee Wee” Norwood; and brothers, Sandy Cantey and Fred Cantey.
