Obituary for Martha ‘Marty’ Taylor Martha Jane Allison Taylor, 88, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 3, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 29, 1930 in Caldwell, Idaho, the sixth of 11 children of Golda Ruth Brown and Lloyd Elwyn Allison. Marty grew up during the Great Depression, helping on the family farm.

She was a cheerleader and star on the Notus High School Girls Basketball team. She attended the University of Idaho, graduating with a degree in Home Economics and specialized training in dietetics. While at the U of I, she met her future husband, Wallace R. Taylor.

The two courted through the mail while Wally was in flight school at Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi. The couple married on December 29, 1953 in Roswell, Idaho. To this union were born three children.

They made their home in Ames, Iowa, where Wally attended graduate school and became a faculty member at Iowa State University. They later moved to Columbus, Ohio where Wally was a faculty member and State Dairy Extension Specialist at The Ohio State University. While in Ohio, Marty gained a testimony of the restored gospel and was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints.

Their marriage was solemnized for time and all eternity in the Washington, DC Temple on December 29, 1976. In 1977, they moved to North Logan, Utah, where Wally continued his career at Utah State University. Marty was a devoted wife and mother, a fabulous homemaker, hostess and cook.

She was a talented seamstress and loved gardening, camping with family, and cheering on her favorite teams, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes. She served in many capacities in the Church, including ward and stake Young Women president, Ward Relief Society president, and Stake Extraction Coordinator. Her favorite place to be was with the youth.

She and Wally served a mission in the Logan Family History Center. She was preceded in death by her parents and six of her siblings. She is survived by her sweetheart of 65 years, Wally, and their three children: Connie (Roger) Holyoak of Chubbuck, Idaho; Alan (LeeAnn) Taylor, of Boise, Idaho; and David (Judy) Taylor, of Rexburg, Idaho; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, with more on the way.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful friends and neighbors who have supported Wally and Marty as her health declined; and the staff at Maple Springs Care Center for their superb, compassionate care. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the North Logan 2nd Ward Chapel, 1105 E. 2100 N., North Logan, Utah. A viewing will be held Friday, January 11, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Allen Mortuary, 420 E. 1800 N., North Logan, Utah, and from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the services Saturday at the church in North Logan.

A graveside service will precede interment at the Wendell City Cemetery, Wendell, Idaho on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 12:00 noon. Condolences may be sent to the family at www. allenmortuaries.net In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you donate to your favorite charity.
