Martin Much, 77, of San Tan Valley, AZ formerly of Appleton, died peacefully in Appleton on November 12th after over a 4 year battle with cancer. He was born in the Town of Union, WI to the late Martin L. and Elvera E. (Helms) Much. Marty joined the Army in 1960, and was stationed in in Regensburg, Germany, where he met his wife, Erika (Sauerer).

In 1966 he left the Army as a Sargent and moved to Marion, WI with his wife and children. Then in 1967 they moved to Appleton where he lived until retirement. Marty was a painting and sandblasting contractor, member of the American Legion Post 38, Boy Scout Leader, President of the Appleton Chapter PDCA, and master of all trades.

His greatest joy was spending time with his family telling stories and jokes. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, shooting guns at the range, traveling, hunting, camping, woodworking, gardening, and working on cars. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dolores Kosloski, and a granddaughter Hannah Kosloski.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; Susanne (Kevin) Brinkman, Jim (Sarah) Much, Dino (Rebecca) Much, and son-in-law Tim Kosloski, 7 grandchildren; Alicia (Doug) Obermann, John (Teresa) Brinkman, Liam Kosloski, Tyler, Carley, Ian, Ryan Much, 3 great-grandchildren; Penny and Lucy Obermann, and Ellanorah Brinkman, 6 siblings; Joan (Marvin) Zienert, Bob Much, Jim (Penny) Much, Sherry (late Marlin) Krueger, Doug (Debbie) Much, and Dawn (Craig) LeMacher; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Marty is on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 11:00. Visitation is at 9:00 until the time of funeral at First English Lutheran Church, 326 E. North St., Appleton with Rev.

Jeff Tengesdal officiating. Full Military Honors will follow the service. A memorial fund is being established.

Marty’s family would like to thank the VA staff in Tuscon, AZ and the hospice staff at Compassus for their help and support.
