Funeral Services for Marvin A. Dreyer, 92, Stanton, will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 1, 2018 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Reverend Mark Reichert will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Military honors will be conducted by Nebraska National Guard Honor Guard, American Legion Post 16 and VFW Post 1644. Visitation will be Sunday 4 to 7 p.m. at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue. He passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the Stanton Health Center.

Marvin Arnold was born October 27, 1925 in Pilger, Nebraska to his parents Paul and Augusta (Splitgerber) Dreyer. He grew up on family farms that where located north of Pilger, near Clarks, NE and near Skyview Lake in Norfolk. Marvin attended school at St. Paul’s Lutheran School and Norfolk Senior High School.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947. On September 2, 1951, Marvin married Norma Raasch at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The couple loved to travel when they were young.

They raised their children on the family farm near Stanton. Marvin worked as a dairy farmer and raised hogs. Also, he was a recognized instructor in 4-H.

Marvin was very active in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He will be fondly remembered for his strong work ethic, faith, and love of his family. He is survived by his children Donald Dreyer of Stanton, Dale (Marva) Dreyer of Stanton, Cindy (Robert) Kment of Stanton, Timothy Dreyer of Cheyenne, WY, Patricia Taylor of Norfolk, and Sherri (Dan) Kirby of Battle Creek, 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, sister Lois (Bruce) Costar of Omaha, sister-in-law Bernice Dreyer of Webb City, MO, and nieces and nephews.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson John Kirby, and brothers Harold and Walter. Memorials requested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Live Broadcast. There’s still time to send flowers to the Visitation at the Home for Funerals Chapel from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on September 30, 2018.
