Funeral Services for Michelle R. Griffith, 35, Norfolk, will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church. Reverend David Goehmann will officiate. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue. She passed away Friday, September 21, 2018 at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha. Michelle Renee was born December 4, 1982 to her parents Kirk and Carol (Roehr) Griffith in Lincoln, Nebraska.

She attended Christ Lutheran School through 8th grade and then graduated from Norfolk High School in 2001. In 2003, she graduated from Northeast Community College. Then, she graduated from Wayne State College in 2006 with a teaching degree.

Michelle taught 3rd grade in St. Edward, NE. She was the assistant volleyball coach and head coach of the girls basketball team. Michelle participated in volleyball, basketball, softball, dance and soccer.

She loved playing soccer. She became ill and disabled in 2007 and had to quit her life long dream of being a teacher. Michelle had a son, Brody Schaffer, who was born on March 10, 2008.

Brody was the light of her life and she loved him with her whole heart. Our hearts are forever heavy with sadness at the loss of a wonderful and loving daughter, mother, sister, teacher and person. She is survived by her son Brody Schaffer, parents, brothers Kyle (fiancée Sarah Skolness) Griffith and Nick (Lacey) Griffith, niece Savanna, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Michelle was preceded in death by her grandparents Henry and Evelyn Roehr and Mick and Doris Griffith. In lieu of flowers, memorials requested to the family. There’s still time to send flowers to the Visitation at the Home for Funerals Chapel from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on September 26, 2018.
