Marvin Lee Smith May 23, 1944 – May 26, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card Marvin Lee Smith, 75, of Dibble, died, Sunday, May 26, 2019, at his home. The son of William Howard Smith and Lora Alice (Heavin) Smith, he was born May 23, 1944, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Marvin married Virginia Ann Thomas on June 3, 1969, in New Winchester, Indiana.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served during the Vietnam Era. Marvin was a Christian in faith and was a member of the Ironworker’s Union. He worked for many years as an ironworker until his retirement.

In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and farming. He owned and operated Smith’s Fresh Farm Produce, Eggs, and Melons for many years. Marvin was a hard worker and was always building or fixing something.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lora Duke; his father and stepmother, Howard and Isabell Smith; his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Stanley Leonard; a sister-in-law, Marguerite Smith; and a stepsister and brother-in-law, Janice and Ronnie Johnson. Marvin is survived by his wife of 50 years, Virginia Smith of Dibble; three daughters, Sherria Carel and husband, Clinton, of Blanchard, Amanda Meiser and husband, Greg, of Dibble, and Elizebeth Newton and husband, Scott, of Elgin; nine grandchildren, AshLeigh Carel, Nathaniel Carel, Nicholas Carel, Emily Smith, Greg Meiser, Megan Smith, Keely Newton, Paige Newton, and Colbie Newton; one brother, Darrel Smith of Dibble; his stepbrother, Frank Foxx and wife, Margaret, of Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law; and many other loved ones and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, May 31, 2019, at the Dibble Free Will Baptist Church in Dibble. Burial will follow in the Hale Cemetery in Dibble. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
