Mary Ann Jonsson Young 1930-2018 “I’m just going Home. . ”.
Our loving Mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Aunt and friend Mary Ann Jonsson Young passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018 after years of being restricted in movement due to extreme back pain. She was born in American Fork, Utah to John F. and Catherina Latare Jonsson April 19, 1930. She was preceded in death by her Beloved husband of sixty-two years James (Bud) Young and oldest son G. Allen Young (Sharon Young Emery).
Bud and Mary were married June 21, 1947 in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1962 their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She is survived by daughter Frances (Robert) Ripley and son David J. (Joann) Young.
Mom always said, “the grands are grand and the greats are great”. Her grandchildren are as follows: Grandson Blake (Anya) Young, children Claire, Hank and Bridget. Granddaughter Charlotte (Bryan) Coester, children Macy, Keller, Campbell and Bennett.
Granddaughter Melanie Young. Grandson Gregory S. Hamilton. Granddaughter Amy (Michael) Canning, children Sarah Elise and Katherine Grace.
Granddaughter Anna (Jon) Utley, children River, Cole and Luke. Grandson Joseph D. Hamilton. Granddaughter Emily Hamilton, children Nolan and Michael.
Step-Grandson Rob (Sheridan) Ripley, children Devon, Carson and Bryson. Step-Granddaughter Kirsten (Ben) Jacobson, children Trevor, Ethan, Harrison, Bridger, Taiya, Brinley and Taft. Step-Granddaughter Lindsay H. Ripley.
Granddaughter Christy Jean Young (deceased). Grandson Jonathan (Stephanie) Young, children Alexandria (Jonathan) Brown, great-great grandchild Isabelle Jane. Granddaughter Angela (Wade) Perry, children Jacob Alan, Kaelyn Elizabeth and Tanner James.
Granddaughter Amanda (Mike) Marshall, children Lilly Grace and Emma Rose. Granddaughter Elizabeth Young, child Quinn David. Learning and education was always important to Mom.
She attended schools in American Fork, Tooele High School and Utah State University. Service was a part of her nature. She served in a Relief Society Presidency, as Primary President and as Young Women’s President twice.
Mom and Dad served as Service Missionaries and as Ordinance Workers at the Salt Lake Temple for many years. Mom enjoyed her career as Supervisor of the Tooele County School Foodservice Program. Her hobbies included a personal quest for the ‘next’ recipe to try.
She had a lifelong love affair with books and enjoyed her membership in The Bathtub Readers Book Club. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting and crocheting. Even though Mom and Dad traveled extensively making new memories together they always looked forward to returning home.
Now, they are Home together again. The family would like to express gratitude for the many acts of kindness extended to Mom from members of the Third Ward, her attentive aids and staff from Home Instead Senior Care and her compassionate Harmony Home Health hospice nurses. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:45 prior to funeral services at Noon on Friday, May 4 at the Third Ward, 141 West Utah Avenue in Tooele.
Interment Tooele City Cemetery.
