Mary Ann. Lutz “Vi”, age 88 years, died peacefully Wednesday morning, June 27, 2018 with her family by her side. She was born to the late L.B. Mayville and Ann B. (Cornelius) LeSage on March 17, 1930 in Bay City.
Mary graduated from High School in 1947. On February 4, 1950, Mary married Carl Lutz, Jr. and he preceded her in death on April 30, 1997. Mary was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church) in Esville.
She was also a life member of the Women of the… Read More » Moose (Lodge 169), and U.A.W. Local #362 retirees. Mary retired from General Motors in Bay City after 32 years of service. She enjoyed games of skill, fishing, traveling and competitive roller-skating at Wenona Beach of which she was State Amateur Dance Champion.
Mary was one of the first female certified scuba divers and was asked to participate with the Michigan State Police in search and rescue. In her 70’s Mary parasailed in Florida. Surviving family members include her three children: Carol (Michael) Rytlewski of Bay City, Michael (Susan) Lutz of Essexville, Gary Lutz of Big Rapids; her siblings: Lionel (Red): Mayville of Oregon, Suzanne Larason of Florida and step- brother, Jack LeSage of Bay City; grandchildren: Nicole (Robert) Shaffner, Alicia (Norman) Cherrett, Chad (Ellen) Lutz, Carrie Rytlewski, Nathan (Traci) Lutz, Jared (Wendi) Rytlewski, Bethany (Miles) Nykamp, Seth (Krissi) Lutz and Danielle Lutz; 22 great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter; sisters-in-law: Katherine Weiler, Mary Lou Lutz, Francis Lutz and Beverly Lutz; several nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Carl, Jr. and son, Daniel Lutz, one granddaughter, one great granddaughter and two great grandsons. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Monday, July 2, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church), 614 Pine at Hudson Streets in Essexville, MI. Mary will lie in state in the church chapel Monday after 9:00 AM.
Rev. Dale A. Orlik and Reverend Arnold Piering will concelebrate and private Rite of Committal in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Moose Lodge #169, St. Joseph’s Indian School in Chamberlain SD 57326 or charity of choice.
