Mary Ann VanDeWoestyne, 90, of Geneseo, passed away on Thursday, January, 10, 2019, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA, surrounded by her loving family. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Geneseo. Father Michael Pakula will officiate.

Burial will follow at North Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 14, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo Chapel, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House or the Geneseo Humane Society. Mary Ann was born on March 18, 1928, the daughter of Walter and Mary (VanOpdorp) Rahn, in Moline, IL.

She graduated from Geneseo High School with the class of 1946. Mary Ann was united in marriage to Kenneth VanDeWoestyne on January 10, 1948, in Geneseo. Kenneth preceded her in death on January 22, 2012.

She assisted her husband, Kenny, on their dairy farm in rural Geneseo for many years, and was an excellent homemaker and mother. Mary Ann was a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church and was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society, Circle 9. She was also active in the Mending Hearts group at Hammond Henry Hospital, and her neighborhood card club.

Mary Ann also looked forward to and enjoyed attending her Tuesday morning coffee club at Lisa’s Place in Atkinson. She enjoyed flower gardening and was known for her baking skills. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Sharon VanDeWoestyne, Geneseo, Keith VanDeWoestyne, Geneseo, Sue (Grant) Hatch, Colona, Kevin (Susan) VanDeWoestyne, Osco, and Sally (Dwayne) Croegaert, Geneseo.

She is also survived by two grandchildren, Kate (James) Jones, Colona, Kyle VanDeWoestyne, Osco, step-grandson, Lucas (Amanda) Croegaert, and three step-great-grandchildren. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mary, her husband, Kenny, and by a sister, Phyllis Anthony.
