Mary Brown Rieger December 23, 1942 – February 20, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Mary Brown Rieger, age 76 of Kingsbury, Texas, passed away on February 20, 2019. She was one of nine siblings born on December 23, 1942 in Kingsbury, Texas to William Henry and Zerelda Ruth (Benner) Brown. Mary was an entrepreneur of sorts, always starting some type of new business.

With her husband, Gilbert Rieger, Mary owned and operated the Lucky Star Café in McQueeney. Never afraid of hard work, they later moved to Kingsbury where she worked in various restaurants for friends and later opened “My Place” in Kingsbury. She also co-owned a shrimp boat in Indianola, Texas.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert O Rieger, her son, Steven Stidham, her grandson, Joshua Torres, her parents, her brothers, Robert Brown, Joe Brown, Alfred Brown, Gus Brown, Jack Brown and sisters, Ethel Kirchman and Margie McMurren. Survivors include her children, Peggy Maddox and husband Mark, and Karen Bennet and husband David, Robert Stidham and wife Cindy, James Stidham and wife Beverly, and Kevin Rieger and wife Melissa; sister, Joyce Brown; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members and many friends. A memorial service for family and friends will be announced at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P. O. Box 1000 Dept 142, Memphis, TN, 38101-9908.
