Mary Clare Brown, 64, of East Lansing, Michigan, passed away suddenly October 9, 2018. Mary was born November 13, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan to Joseph A. and Patricia A. (Davis) Brown. Mary graduated from Cass Technical High School and attended the University of Michigan, later earning a bachelor’s degree from University of California, Berkeley and a master’s degree in library science from Wayne State University.

Mary had an adventurous life. As a young woman she was an au pair in New York City and hitchhiked through Europe. She lived in the San Francisco Bay area for many years.

Mary loved cooking, dancing and singing. She is survived by sisters Kathleen, Susan, Teresa (Peter), Sharon, and brother Paul (Dawn), nephews Alex and Austin, aunts Donna Bolton and Kathleen Brown, numerous cousins, and dear friends Micki and Terry Smith. Mary was predeceased by her parents and brother William.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private memorial will be held at a later date. Condolences may be made online at www.
