Mrs. Mary Cleo Edmondson, 71, of Roxboro, NC passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Canterbury House Nursing Facility in Roxboro. She was born in Sampson County, NC. February 18, 1947 to Needham Eldon and Annie Lee (Rose) Summerlin.

She was the youngest of four children. She was preceded in death by brothers Larry A. Summerlin, Jesse S. Summerlin, her parents and two husbands. She attended grade school at Herring School and graduated from Midway High School in 1965.

She worked as a nursing caregiver at John Umstead Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Hopewell UMC, 4641 Church Road, Newton Grove, NC. Pastor Adam Brinkley will officate the service.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. Cleo is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Alan Giddens of Charlotte, NC and Brian Thomas Edmondson of Roxboro, NC: sister, Anne S. Barham, Newton Grove, NC, a special cousin, Bobby Hinson of Newton Grove, NC, several brother and sister-n-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and an Uncle. The family wishes to thank everyone for the many acts of kindness shown to the family during Mary Cleo’s illness and bereavement. West & Dunn Funeral Home, Newton Grove is assisting with the arrangements.
