OBITUARY Mary Dickerson Ellis September 30, 1925 – September 27, 2018 Mary Lee Dickerson Ellis, 92, passed away September 27, 2018 at her home in Chesterfield, Virginia. She was predeceased by her husband, R. Samuel Ellis and her sister, Sarah Neff Jones, and her brother Hugh H. Dickerson, Jr She was born September 30, 1925 in Prince Edward County to Hugh H. Dickerson and Susie Lee Riddell Dickerson.

She grew up in Pamplin, Virginia. She was a graduate of Longwood University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Virginia Commonwealth University with a Master’s Degree in Education with a concentration in Guidance. She taught 41 years in Colonial Beach, Oak Grove, and King George High Schools.

She was a former member of Shiloh Baptist Church in King George County where she held many leadership positions. She was currently a member of Midlothian Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher. She is survived by her daughters, Lynda G. Ellis of Richmond, Virginia and Jeanne Ellis West (Don) of Roanoke Rapids, NC, her grandson, Joshua D. Larew (Kimberlin) of Siler City, NC, and many nieces and nephews.

Her homecoming memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 30 at Woody Funeral Home on Huguenot Road in Midlothian, Virginia. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM with the funeral service at 4 PM. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Rice, Virginia near Farmville.

Memorial donations may be made to Midlothian Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
