On May 29, 2018, Mary Elizabeth Harden (85), in trusting faith, was called home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ. Mary was born on September 11, 1932 in Akron, Ohio. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Dorsey and Maude Currence; sister, Laura Logsden and daughter, Pamela Wehman.

She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Richard Harden (former Superintendent of Schools in Tallmadge, Ohio); son, Richard Harden, Jr. (Jeanne); son in law, Guy Wehman; grandchildren, Jonathan Wehman (Sara), Stephanie Grimes (Kris), Derek Harden; great grandchildren, Braden Grimes and Deklan Wehman. Mary’s life was one of love and care for her family, based in her deep love of her Lord. As a teen, she sang sacred music on the radio for the Furnace Street Mission.

Later, she played piano and organ for her church. Mary was a long-time member of The Chapel in Akron, Ohio. She was a 1950 graduate of West High School in Akron and attended both Kent State University and the University of Akron.

Following marriage in 1952, she became a devoted Army wife and mother. After moving to Tallmadge, Ohio in 1958, she served as President of the Northeast Neighbors Garden Club. She worked for 25 years in the offices of General Tire.

Mary loved to cook, was a student of American history and was skilled in the art of needlepoint. She loved to study Scripture, as her Lord was the focus of her life. Most of all, Mary valued her many friends and family, always putting everyone else’s needs before her own.

Visitation will be 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2018 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (on the Historic Tallmadge Circle) and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Isaac Van Epps officiating.

Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.
